I am still here and still trying to inform people about the system that is supposed to look out for our elderley citizens. The people who paid their taxes and helped form this country.
I wonder how they would feel about the way they are treated in nursing homes. I seriously doubt they intended for the public to turn their backs on them. I think they should at least be treated with the dignity we treat our animals when they get old. I've seen people that will let their dogs sleep in the bed with them when they get old. Some of the same people wouldn't think twice about putting their parents in a nursing home.
Maybe if they knew the quality of care their parents were receiving they would change their mind. If you find yourself having to make the decision to put mom or pop in the home, do some research. All nursing homes are not created equal. They have a star rating posted by the NCDHSR. Look them up. Hendersonville Health and Rehab has only one star. If I had known that then that would have made a difference.
They all look nice and pretty on the outside, and the intake people are friendly. They even have a putting green and ice cream shop. What they don't have is adequate nursing and support staff for the number of residents they have. People in these places suffer a terrible injustice. Dont be fooled by what you can see, ask about what you dont see!
