SanStone Health and Rehabilitation, Who are you really? I see the name SanStone associated with, Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation, Beystone, Sanford Health and Rehabilitation, StoneCreek Health and Rehabilitation, Madison Health and Rehabilitation, and Oak Forest Health and Rehabilitation.
Then I came across a website that claims that Ohio based Sprenger Health Care, had acquired two new properties, Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation, and Stone Creek Health and Rehabilitation.
Is SanStone just another way to spell Sprenger?
The local paper says a group of local doctors bought Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation. Hendersonville Physicians and Associates, led by Dr. Larry Joe Russell. Upon searching the NC Secretary of State website, there is no Dr. Larry Joe Russell on the documents. There are a couple of local doctors, their wives, and a long list of Sprengers, and Sprenger owned businesses. Hardly sounds like one little small town doctor masterminded the whole affair. Dr. Larry Joe Russell appears to be nothing more than a doctor with too many patients, and a puppet of the Sprenger monopoly.
This may not seem like a big deal to you right now. But rest assured the minute you trust someone you care about, to these ruthless profiteers, you will care. You will see the substandard level of care their patients are subject to. What you will not see, is the compassion, and level of care they advertise on WLOS channel 13, in Asheville NC. " Our promise is to care for our patients as if they were our own family. " Hardly proven by the yearly inspection and complaints posted on Medicare.gov. Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation has a two star rating, and Beystone has a one star rating, well below average. Is that how they treat their family members?
If you need one of these types of facilities, do your research. Go to Medicare.gov, and then look at some of the private reviews. Medicare.gov, is not an accurate representation of what the place is actually like, but it is a starting point..The NC DHHS never seems to find a valid complaint, although many are filed. Looks a lot like someone (NCDHHS) is getting paid to turn the other way, and not find any problems
Nursing - Rehabilitation centers are almost all owned and operated by huge corporations. For some reason there are a lot of these companies in Ohio. The Sprengers are from Ohio??? Dr. Larry Joe Russell was hatched in Kentucky, there are quite a few Nursing - Rehabilitation centers headquartered there as well. SanStone is nothing but a shell corporation it is not listed as a corporation on the NC Secretary of State website. It is there to absorb any liability, in the event they ever actually find something wrong. This is the method they use to steal medicare and medicaid monies. We ( US taxpayers ) are paying for the private planes and yachts, golf tournaments and exclusive homes they live in. Sure gets my blood boiling, what about you?

SanStone Health, Christopher Sprenger , Mike Deloach , Larry Joe Russell. According to the Hendersonville Times News, these are the people who bought the Pardee Care Center. Currently Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation in Flat Rock NC.
This is interesting, because if you look up Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation, on Medicare.gov, there is a long list of owners. The Times News makes it sound like a group of local doctors bought the facility from Pardee Hospital. I am goiln to list the owners according to Medicare.gov.

Hardly looks like a group of local doctors does it? There are a couple of doctors on there but there are more Sprengers. The Sprenger family owns quite a few nursing and rehabilitation facilities in Ohio and other States. What happened to DR. Larry Joe Russell, his name is nowhere on there. Does the Hendersonville Times News know this, or do they just write what they are told to write, without investigating. According to the Securities and Exchange Commission, there are only three names on their documents. Christopher Sprenger, Mike Deloach, and Dr. Larry Joe Russell.
What is the purpose of this confusing ownership structure? Is it to share the wealth, or to hide from the liability of running a substandard care facility, where people mysteriously die?
This is a perfect example of what's wrong with our healthcare system. I have gone so far as contacting the White House, Several Senators, and two Congressmen. I have also contacted, The CMS, NCDHHS, NC Medical Board, NC Board of Nursing, NC State Medical Examiner, OIG, and any other State or Federal agency that would be involved in holding them accountable. I've been bounced back and forth from one to the other. No one wants to be the first to get involved, most don't even respond. When they do respond, and I follow through with questions, it turns out that they have actually done nothing. This effects anyone who ends up in one of these death traps, as well as anyone who pays taxes. They are stealing our tax money right in front of us. In the meantime, while they are playing golf, yachting around the country, and flying their private jets around, our schools are firing teachers, and cutting programs left and right. If this is OK with you, then something is wrong. I need all the help I can get to get this the attention it deserves. It's way more than an eldercare issue, it is government corruption at almost every level, local, State, and Federal. Get involved and make a difference. Please post your comments, and share your stories.

Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation, 104 College Dr. Hendersonville NC. Dr. Larry Joe Russell , Chris Sprenger, Mike Deloach, Administrator Paul Shogren, Past Administrator Cookie ( Maude) Romeo, Susan Habel RN and Lara Mooney LPN. I wonder how any of you sleep at night. Does all that money help erase the memories of all the people that die needlessly in your supposed "care".
Just because the NCDHHS is willing to turn their heads on the lousy conditions in your facilities, doesn't mean everyone is. Did you ever wonder if someone out there, was above the influence of your money? Did you ever wonder if maybe, you might get caught. Did you ever think, that someone may care enough to keep pursuing truth and justice.
My brother and I know a lot more about you than you may think. It's amazing what countless hours of internet research can uncover. It's kind of interesting how this family from Ohio, somehow partners up with a small town doctor and his buddies in Hendersonville NC. , and starts buying Nursing homes. It's also interesting, how a member of the NC Medical care Commission fits into the picture. They just happen to be in charge of loaning you our tax dollars, and approving the construction of nursing homes.
The definition of the word corruption is : the abuse of public office, power or resources, by government officials, for financial gain. Boy that just about describes the whole nursing home industry. At least in Hendersonville and Asheville NC, and most likely, Ohio, Kentucky, and South Carolina.
All I know is that there is no way these people should be trusted. They lie, steal and cheat at every level. They have friends in very high political places. One of these days, they will be caught. That's when I will stop looking at them, and what they own. All the pharmacies, DME supplies, Oxygen providers, ambulance services and what's up with HealthTrust.
Before you put a loved one in these places, check them out. Medicare.Gov is a good place to start, but look to the private sector for reviews as well. Talk to the local people and see what you hear. I've heard more horror stories than good stories. But what ever you do, if you are in Hendersonville NC, make sure the doctor is not Larry Joe Russell. Being a patient of his will shorten your life span for sure.
This is for real, I could write a book on what I know. My friends all get tired of hearing my stories, but then when they need to put someone in a facility, they call my brother and I for advice. Don't be fooled by the pretty landscaping, or the " formal " dining room, or the little putting green that no one uses, or the ice cream parlor. That has nothing to do with the care they will receive. Look at how many nurses are working, how many cna's, how much support staff there is. They never have enough staff to adequately care for the number of patients. By law, they have to post the staff on duty list in a public area. Look for that! More to come!

Dr. Larry Joe Russell, Family Medical Center, 510 Balsam Rd, Hendersonville NC 28792. Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation, 104 College Dr.Flat Rock NC, 28731. SanStone Health, 229 Airport Road, Suite 7 - 104, Arden NC, 28704.
I rode by Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation today in the course of a normal day. I stopped outside, and looked around. The place looks kind of nice from the outside. There are lots of flowers, the grass is nice and manicured, the entrance is welcoming on the outside.
I remember the first time I went inside, Mom had been moved there from Memorial Mission hospital, in Asheville. She was sent there for vocational and occupational rehabilitation, recovering from a craniotomy. Mom wasn't sick, she was just taking a little longer to get her strength back, than the doctor thought she should have. I was directed to room 102 A by the receptionist. Whoever that was in 102 A it was obviously not Mom. I was met in the hallway by a worker pushing a wheelchair, who directed me to 101 A, where Mom was resting in the bed.
The whole family had been in and out of Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation, and we all noticed how short staffed they were. But Mom wasn't sick, so we all assisted her to the bathroom and with her meals, all they really had to do was to take care of her at night. We actually felt sorry for the workers, who were obviously doing the most they could. One of us was was with Mom almost all the time, except when she slept.
No one thought she was in any danger sleeping at night. Boy were we all wrong. Thats when most of the bad stuff happens at these places. For the most part, they are fully staffed in the daytime, and short staffed at night. This allowed any potential residents, family members and State inspectors, to see what they were supposed to see.
Well it was early the morning Mom was supposed to come home, when I got that dreaded call that I will never forget. It was 5:07 am, and the Hispanic lady on the phone informed me that Mom was not breathing, and they were trying to resuscitate her. I immediately drove to Hendersonville Health and rehabilitation, where I was met by a nurse. The nurse was Tammy Mace, RN. She gave me a quick story about what had happened. I left and went to Margaret Pardee Hospital, where Mom had been sent by ambulance. Mom was dead, she had not had a heartbeat or breath since 4:45 am.
The death certificate was signed by Dr. Larry Joe Russell, which was a surprise, due to the fact that no one in the family knew who he was. In all the time Mom was in Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation, he was supposed to be her doctor. Seems weird that not one of us had ever met Dr Russell, although, he was supposed to have seen Mom.
Some of the story just wasn't right. The times were not the same on all the reports, and something just wasn't right. Well after more than a year and a half of asking questions, I still cant tell what really happened. There are so many inconsistencies in the stories, it poses more questions than it answers. To this day, not one has told the truth, not Dr. Larry Joe Russell, Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation or SanStone ( Mike Deloach and Christopher Sprenger). If you are dealing with any of these people, be careful. They are selling nothing more than substandard care and death. I can tell you from experience, they will go to any extreme to hide the truth. I know without a doubt, that something went terribly wrong the night Mom died. Part of me wants to believe it was an accident, and part of me believes it was not.
My big brother and I will keep on chasing the truth, wherever it leads us. We will not stop digging , until the truth is known. We are prepared to chase the bad guys as long as it takes to catch them making another mistake. It is inevitable! We are documenting them and pursuing many sources of justice. We will overcome, all of the corruption and greed ,and justice will prevail !!!

Dr. Larry Joe Russell, Family Medical Center, 510 Balsam Rd., Hendersonville North Carolina. I wish I had been fortunate enough to never have heard that name or the name, Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation.
Both of these conjure up images of death and suffering.
I have seen so many death certificates signed by Dr. Larry Joe Russell, that I wonder how he sleeps at night. I guess, if he actually ever saw the patients faces, things might be a little different in the Russell bedroom at night.
I know for a fact that Dr. Larry Joe Russell supposedly sees patients at Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation, The Laurels, Lake Pointe Landing ,The Brian Center, BeyStone, Carolina Village, Universal Health Care, Pine Park by Emeritus, Golden Living Center, Mountain Home Health and Rehabilitation, Margaret Pardee Hospital, and his own practice, Family Medical Center, 510 Balsam Rd., Hendersonville, NC.
If in fact he was actually seeing all the patients he is billing for, he would have to be working at least 24 hours a day. I would love to get a look at his billing records, just to count the number of patients he supposedly sees in one day.
I have seen the results of having Dr Larry Joe Russell as your doctor. It seems to have a negative effect on life expectancy. If you go to the vital records room at the Henderson County NC Courthouse, you can see for yourself. Just look at the deaths from last year. There is no doubt in my mind that Dr. Russell holds some kind of record for number of death certificates signed in one year. I would also venture a guess, that if you are one of Dr. Russell's patients ( victims ) the leading cause of death would be " failure to thrive".
I understand all too well that "older people die", I've been told that so many times I can't even count. I actually read on a form recently, that acute coronary arrhythmia, is a common way to die if you are in your seventies. This according to Dr. Larry Joe Russell and Dr. Hal Poston at Pardee Hospital! Even if you have no history of heart disease?
My Mother mattered, she mattered to my three sisters, my brother and myself, and all the grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a loving caring woman, and did not deserve the horror of Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation. Dr. Larry Joe Russell was not worthy of being in the presence of such a wonderful person!
Well I hope Dr. Russell is enjoying spending all the money he is making of off the death his elderly patients.Sooner or later one of the spirits will find a way to make him regret his lack of compassion!

Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation, SanStone, Dr. Larry Joe Russell, Chris Sprenger, Michael Deloach, Paul Shogren.
I have made the comment in the past, that if animal control were to take over the licensing and regulation of nursing homes, the world would be a better place.
Please don't take this the wrong way, I have nothing against animals, we have a family dog. I do have a problem with the NCDHHS going into nursing homes, and ignoring the obvious problems. Letting the helpless senior citizens suffer at the hands of these greedy heartless individuals.
I saw on WLOS channel 13, in Asheville, where a man tied his horse to a cinder block. After some time animal services stepped in and took the horse, which eventually died of malnutrition. The owner of the horse was sentenced to eighteen months in jail.
I have over fifty death certificates, signed by Dr. Larry Joe Russell, at least thirty percent, listing failure to thrive as cause of death. No fines for Larry Joe, no prison time either. If any of the deceased were horses, he would be in jail, where he belongs. Old people die! Especially the ones that have Dr. Larry Joe Russell as their doctor.
Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation is the last place many of our elderly see. It looks real pretty from the outside, but go inside after dark, and the horror begins.
I bet when animal control comes to see if you are taking care of your pets, they don't call ahead. They try to catch you, and hold you accountable. NCDHHS, should take a lesson from animal control. Do their job, and show up unannounced. They would sure find plenty wrong. People would go to jail, and things would get better.
Isn't it a shame that animals get more attention, than our elderly. I have read many reports of people getting abused, and losing their lives because of things that happen in nursing homes. I have seen where the home was fined a couple of thousand dollars, because their neglect cost someone their life.
Wake up NCDHHS, do your job, and let our elderly live their lives with dignity and respect!!!!!

Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation, and SanStone must spend a lot of money to stay out of trouble.
I have been in touch with various agencies over the last year and a half, and not one of them seems to be able to find anything wrong.
The most recent conversation I had was with the QIO. That stands for quality improvement organization. I was encouraged by one of their own employees to file a complaint with them. I did so reluctantly, not knowing what they could do. Well not to surprise me they didn't find anything wrong with the quality of care Mom received at Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation.
After receiving the letter from the QIO, I did like I always do, and called them. It never ceases to amaze me how they immediately get on the defence. They verbally attack you, and make sure you understand that you are an idiot. They also let you know that there is no disputing their conclusions.
I spoke to the person, who originally responded to my complaint, she was extremely rude and unsympathetic. I mentioned some of the terrible things that happened to Mom, at Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation. Her response, was that their team of professionals found no quality of care issues. After realizing that our conversation was going nowhere, I asked to speak to her boss. Her name was Linda Moore, as I ran down my list of issues, they were surprisingly not quality of care issues. I was informed that their professionals had done their review, and that was that. I spoke to her on specific incidents that had occurred. She was not able to tell me if anything I mentioned was an issue. She repeated the mantra, that their team of officials had done their review. There is no way to appeal their decision and nowhere else to go. I went to their website, and discovered that they were also a branch of NCDHHS.
I recently read an article on the OIG, the enforcement arm of the DHHS. I will post the link below. After reading, you would think they were very serious about the entire regulation process. The article even says that "it happens everywhere", well that just doesn't sit right with me. I will continue to file complaints and make noise, until someone listens. This is where we are all going to end up sooner or later. Unless you actually believe that when you get old, some family member is going to take care of you till you die. Once you pass through those doors, it's too late. Please join me now, and make a difference.
