SanStone is at it again. According to a January 12 article in the Hendersonville Times News, they are building a new nursing home in Mills River. Mills River Health and Rehabilitation. From what I can tell, they are replacing the old Beystone Health and Rehabilitation. Beystone is located on the grounds of Fletcher Academy across from Park Ridge Hospital.
All I can say is, something smells a little fishy. According to a previous Times News article, SanStone is partnering with Fletcher Academy in this venture. What does a private High School have to do with a nursing home? Could it be that being partners with a "non profit" high school, provides some sort of tax loophole? That would be my guess.
According to Medicare.gov, Beystone has a one star rating, much below average. I read an inspection report, where they left a woman in the same soiled clothes for almost three whole days. I guess it should be comforting to know that they are promising the same " quality of care " in the new facility. At least Granma will be sitting there in a new building, with fancy lighting, in her food stained clothes! Come on people, wake up. SanStone , who are they? The Times News says they are an Asheville based company. I would seriously question that fact.
Mills River, soon to be home to the new Sierra Nevada brewery, and another Sanstone death resort. Look these people up. Who are they really? Are they an Asheville based company, or a subsidy of some company in somewhere like Ohio? I know SanStone has a really nice office in Biltmore Park, but I have been there several times, and have never seen anyone there.
All I can say, is based on what information is public, be prepared to hear a lot of sirens at night. And don't be surprised when someone's mother or father " escapes " and shows up at the Sierra Nevada brewery in their soiled clothes, looking for the tasting room!
As for the nursing home itself, I wager they are planning on moving all the old beds and furniture  from Beystone to the brand new building. They will file a certificate of need with the NCDHHS. They will get a little help from their friends at DHHS, and they will have a new facility, full of antiquated beds and equipment. Someone is definitely getting rich off the elderly in Henderson County NC. Is it Christopher Sprenger and Michael Deloach, or is it some investment company in Ohio? Anyone know for sure?
